BuyBack Information

  • Buyback is based on University or National Inventory demands.
    • The demand for your book will affect how much we can give you for your books.
    • These demands change by semester.
  • Newer books being used the following semester can receive up to 50% of the price when it was new.
  • Books that are not going to be used by classes on campus are bought at the National Market Value.
  • Loose-leaf books are bought on a case-by-case basis, depending on package requirements.
    • Note: Loose-leaf books have a low buyback price.
  • Access codes are not eligible for buyback unless they are unused (Code not exposed).
  • Books must be in decent, readable condition. 
    • Highlighting and writing in textbooks is acceptable. However,  books in incomplete or unsalable condition (including, but not limited to, damage to the cover or spine, torn pages, water damage, fire damage, or any other condition that materially affects the textbook’s further use) might not be accepted. 

    • The books condition and acceptance will be determined at the register by our Buyback representative. 

  • You must have a BearPass ID. 

Textbook & Textbook Rental Return & Exchange Terms

To receive a full refund or exchange, the following terms apply:

  • Textbooks must be returned no later than the Friday of the 2nd week of classes for the Fall and Spring semesters, and must have a receipt.
  • Textbooks purchased for the summer semester must be returned by the end of the 1st week of classes, with receipt.
  • Textbooks purchased after the first 2 weeks of classes must be returned within two business days from the date of purchase, with receipt.
  • New textbooks must be in the original condition.
  • Textbook Bundles with access codes must be unopened and the code unexposed.
  • Textbooks purchased during the last two weeks of classes are non-refundable.
  • Textbooks purchased for intersession must be returned by the end of the 2nd day of classes, with receipt.
  • Any returns not meeting these terms are at the discretion of the bookstore and need to be approved by the textbook department.

Please note:

  • Rental books must be returned to the bookstore by graduation day of the semester for which they were rented.
  • Books that cannot be returned for a refund may be sold back during our end-of-semester buyback. The highest buyback amounts are typically given during finals week.

Shipping and Returns FAQ

Q. How do I return a product?

A. Non-textbook merchandise can only be returned if it maintains its original condition.  It must be returned within 30 days from the date of purchase with the receipt.  Refunds will be issued in the original form of payment.  

For a quicker turnaround, we suggest using UPS for all returns.  Please complete the Return Form and send it along with the products to:

Q. What is your standard shipping turnaround?

A. If an order is placed before 12:00 pm (Noon) CST and designated Second Day delivery, it will be processed and shipped that afternoon.  All other orders will be processed the next business day.

 

Q. How long will it take for me to get my order?

A. Ground shipment orders are normally processed and shipped within one to two business days.  Shipping transit times are controlled by UPS and are based on distance.  Please refer to the UPS Outbound Transit map for ESTIMATED shipping times under normal conditions.  The Bookstore cannot guarantee delivery based on this schedule and provides this information only as a courtesy.  If you need your order by a certain date, please consider using Second Day delivery.

Second Day orders will be processed and shipped same day if the order is received by 12:00 pm (Noon) CST.

 

Q. How long does it take for in-store pickup orders to be ready?

A. You will be notified via email when your order is ready to be picked up. Please wait until you have received your email notification prior to coming to the Bookstore. Online Orders can be picked up during store hours.

Q. Do you ship internationally?

A. Yes, we ship orders to locations outside the United States.  International orders are subject to import duties and taxes.  Any additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by the purchaser (the one who ordered the product).  Contact your local customs office for further information.

  • Please note there are some international locations we are unable to ship to.

 

Q. How can I track my order?

A. Log in to your account and select the Orders tab.  Select the order number to see the order details.  A section labeled "Tracking numbers" will be visible below the order total.  Click the link to go directly to UPS's website with tracking information.

 

Return Policies

The return policy applies to books and merchandise purchased from the Missouri State Bookstore and any of its affiliate stores. Be sure to bring the original receipt when making returns or exchanges. All returns should be handled at the Customer Service counter in the Bookstore or with the return form above.

General Merchandise 

Any merchandise such as clothing, gifts, souvenirs, supplies, etc must be returned within 30 days of the date of purchase. Also, there is a 14 day waiting period for refunds on check purchases. 

Computer Hardware, Software, and Electronics

  • Items must have been purchased within the past three business days.

  • Unopened items may be returned with a receipt.

  • Opened merchandise may be returned only if it is defective and only exchanged for the identical item.

  • We will place a special order for any item being exchanged that is out of stock.

  • After three business days, the customer is responsible for contacting the manufacturer regarding returns, exchanges, or warranty needs.

Non-Returnable Items 

These items may not be returned if opened:

  • Apple Products

  • Computer Software

  • Consumables (includes, but not limited to: flash drives, CDs, ink cartridges, batteries)
